Blizzard says NO to block capping for Paladins

I haven't been keeping up much over the thanksgiving week, so I find myself surprised (but not really) that the protection paladin mastery was changed.

What exactly happened? Read on!

Fast and Dirty Patch Survival Guide

As previously stated, the Shattering has arrived. I'm not sure if this is just me, but priests and shamans have been relatively quiet and well mannered the last two patches. This leads me to believe they are OP as all hell and need a good nerfing. Some classes have not escaped the nerf bat however...... Here is your fast and dirty survival guide to help you navigate a few of the more major changes that drop this morning.
  • If you play a warrior, you are basically nerfed 17%.
  • If you play a warlock, you are basically nerfed 12%.
  • If you play a bear tank, you just got benched again.
  • If you need to get to any major city, say goodbye to the Dalaran portals.
That is all. Thank you.

/nod - Here's lookin' at you, old world

As some of you have undoubtedly read by now, the event known as the shattering as occured. This means the world as we know it has forever changed. Zones cracked in half, some changed completely, and some even removed! The place where we spent the last 6 years playing a game will never look the same. We laughed, we cried, we cheered, we nerd-raged - we just about did it all. Now it's gone.

Anne over at WoW Insider has a nice compilation of what's in the shattering and what's not. Check it out.

This one is for you, old school Azeroth. You were a hell of a good time. We look forward to what you have become. An old tribute after the jump.

Exploiting in game holidays for profit and pleasure

So I've not been raiding much recent.

It's not due to any one thing, it's just a wicked combo. Between settling into a new house, being a parent, holding down a full time job, AND having to deal with the dwindling raider motivation / pre-expansion lull, I just don't find myself standing over a dead boss or dying on trash. That's ok, it happens. Once the expansion comes out I'll get all excited and I'm sure the decent into madness will occur once again.

Titleist Has Landed!

I'm happy to report I'm blogging from my new pad, complete with WoW Battlestation and internet connectivity. As soon as I figure out which box contains my stuff I'll be back to WoW full time and blogging like a mad man!

The New Old Flare

Matt Low over at WoW Insider recently posted a nice picture (and explaination) of the new flare system on the beta. For those of you unfamiliar with flares, they were exactly that. You could throw them down and for a short duration they would puff up smoke in varying colors. These were great in certain encounters to mark an area of importance. To be honest, they were never used enough. Even some seasoned raiders may have never used or seen a flare used in a practical applicaiton. I digress. With patch 401 they have added to the raid leader UI an option of drop a "world marker". This options appears for both the raid leader and anyone marked assist. The world markers operate and looks just like the old smoke flares but have a longer duration. I like the change but the NEW NEW world marker looks even more amazing. Check it out below and click on the image for the original post.

Prot Paladin: Tanking weapons in 4.0.1 and Cataclysm

So you are all proud of owning Mithrios and then 4.0.1 comes out. Now you wondering if you still have an awesome tanking weapon in your hands.

The short answer, yes.
The long answer, it's comparable.

More after the jump.

Prot Paladin: Regemming in 4.0.1 into Cataclysm

A few things have changed with 4.0.1 (mainly the changes to defense) and with that are changes to how we gem as protection. Do you have all stamina gems? Did you match a lot of multicolor slots with strength because of the extra TPS it gave you? There is one important simple thing that you might be overlooking, expertise!

More after the jump.

The Block Cap and you!

Being block capped means you have reached a point where your total avoidance/mitigation is at or above 102.4%. Essentially this means that no physical hit will do full damage and that a minimum of 30% will be taken off the table. Sounds fun right? Well our old friend Mr. Block cap is still around and actually pretty easy to get still.

The Titleist's New Location

As many of you may have (not) realized, I've been absent the last few days. I usually try and post something at least a few times a week. Never fear, I'll be back shortly. I'm on a wicked 30 straight days of RL work with no time off PLUS I'm in the process of moving my family about 30 miles away. So as you can imagine I'm a bit busy. To top it all off, my new internet service will not be installed until mid November at my new house. I'll try and find some free time before then, but no promises. Until then I leave you all in the faithful hands of my staff, all more than capable of keeping you up to date and in the know regarding all things wow.

Don't cry little Timmy, it will just be a few weeks!
